It is essential you pass the Motorcycle theory test before you can book the practical riding test. You can only sit the Motorbike theory test if you have a provisional bike licence or a full valid Car driving licence, and you are at least 17 years old. If you wish to ride a moped on the road, which is 50cc or less, you don't actually need to take your Motorcycle theory test. You just need to be 16 years old or older, have a valid provisional bike licence or a full valid Car driving licence, and you must have completed the bike Compulsory Basic Training Course (CBT).
There are two parts of the Motorcycle theory test but they are part of the same test. Multiple choice questions is the first part of the test and hazard perception videos is the second part of the theory test.
The cost of the Motorcycle theory test is Β£23.00 and it can be booked on the DVSA website. Since the test is solely aimed at motorcyclists it means that you'll still need to pass the Motorcycle theory test even if you have previously passed the Car theory test.
Multiple choice is the first part of the test. In this section you'll have to answer multiple choice questions based on 14 Motorcycle topics that the Driving Theory 4 All learning zone covers.
The questions you'll see in the real test are not published anywhere for you to see but we do provide you with the latest revision questions, answers, explanations and hazard perception videos, licensed by DVSA (the people who set the theory test), which is the closest you'll get to the real test.
You'll get 57 minutes to answer 50 multiple choice questions and you will need to score at least 43 to pass this part.
The hazard perception part of the test assesses your hazard awareness. You'll see 14 video clips and in 13 of these clips there will be 1 developing hazard. In 1 of the video clips there will be 2 developing hazards. You can score a maximum of 5 for every developing hazard.
To pass this part of the Motorcycle riding theory test, you'll need to score at least 44 out of 75. You will need to pass both the multiple choice and hazard perception sections to gain an overall pass for the Motorcycle theory test.
